Major Causes of Vitiligo

Vitiligo is one of the major causes of skin depigmentation (loss of color) in human beings. It affects all races, but it is more common in darker-skinned people. Approximately one person in every two hundred suffers from this disease, and many of the patients also have another patient with the same disease in his/her family. A normal skin contains melanin, a brown pigment produced by pigment cells of the skin (melanocytes) tyrosine. If the skin affected by vitiligo is examined with a microscope, you can see that there is absence of melanocytes and that the deeper layer of skin has signs of inflammation.

What Actually Causes Vitiligo Development? The exact causes of this skin condition are still unknown as it has been proven that a particular factor which causes the development of vitiligo in one person might not cause in other person, therefore, it is believed that a single cause can never be blamed for the development of vitiligo condition. However, there are some major causes which are as follows: Cause 1: Autoimmune Disorder Some experts believe that it is basically an autoimmune disorder, in which an individual's immune system reacts against his/her own body functions. In this condition, very specific antibodies that act against the melanocytes of the patient may be found in the blood. Cause 2: Nervous Disorder Some families are more prone to autoimmune diseases than others. Another theory about vitiligo suggests that the cause lies in nervous disorder since the deterioration of the nervous system is usually associated with loss of skin pigmentation.  http://blog48.de/2014/09/03/8-frequently-asked-questions-about-vitiligo/

Cause 3: Stress and Trauma Another major cause of vitiligo is considered to be stress as it has been observed that many of the sufferers had stressful period before they got affected with this skin problem. Sometimes traumatic reaction from your body due to autoimmune response brings your body to the stage where it can’t find it possible to hold protective shield against such autoimmune disorder. Cause 4: Nutritional Deficiency Deficiency of nutrients in the body can cause a number of health problems and one of them is vitiligo. There may be deficiency of certain minerals and vitamins in your body which also cause loss of color of skin.

The experts suggest having supplementary diets in case of nutritional deficiency diagnosis. Cause 5: Heredity Heredity is also considered to be one of the major causes and various researches have been done on this subject, but the fact is that so far there are no strong proofs to blame heredity as the major cause of this skin disorder. In most of the cases, those with vitiligo have children with normal skin. Conclusion The above mentioned are some common causes and if you know about them, this will help you understand how to cure this skin condition and make it better so you can also live a life with no feeling of embarrassment at all. Improve your skin to improve your overall lifestyle.
